Red A

It’s a ruby, it’s a diamond,
It’s the brightest thing in the island.

Or should I say it’s more than this,

Chased by students to find their bliss.


It’s a prize, it’s a reward,

It’s the most harmonious chord.

When the students find all of it,

They have a reason not to quit.


But it’s a knife, it’s a threat,

It’s a sign that makes them regret.

Thunderous voices accuse annoy,

When the minus taint and destroy.


It’s man-made, it’s self-imposed,

To have the students’ joy disposed.

For it they endlessly chase,

Yet what do they find expect hollow praises?
